They’ve gone and done it again at The Everyman. By that, I mean produce a Christmas Cracker of a panto. Outside London this is probably one of the best provincial shows around in terms of staging and raw talent.
Pantomime is there to entertain both the adults and the children… and this show does that in spades. It’s a ‘hoot’ a minute as the perennial clown ‘Tweedy’ steals the show with his antics, which kept all the children (and most of the adults) howling for a full 2& ½ hours. How can you not like Panto when a theatre like The Everyman year on year manages to deliver a show that’s got huge slices of entertainment and adheres to the real tradition of panto’ at the same time.
I for one, became a kid again (minus the snotty nose) as I and The Blonde revelled in every song, dance and joke. The cast for this show are all round pegs in round holes. Not one passenger amongst them… and that includes the younger cast members. In short, they gave it their all and provided the audience with a night to be remembered. So, if you’re up for a bit of laugh, don’t take yourself too seriously, then a night at The Everyman Panto Dick Whittington is the perfect way to see in Christmas. It’s on until 7th Jan.
