Superdry founder, Julian Dunkerton (pictured) is nearly £18 million richer, after selling a million shares in his company.
The sale of the shares at £17.80 each represents just a 1.23 per cent stake in the Cheltenham-based fashion brand. Started in 2003, Superdry is a true Gloucestershire and fashion success story. At a time when many high street fashion brands are struggling, Superdry’s shares have risen by 17 per cent over the last 12 months.
Julian Dunkerton started out in business with a clothing stall in Cheltenham in the 1980s. He also owns Dunkerton’s Cider and The Lucky Onion group of luxury hotels, restaurants and pubs in the Cotswolds. He remains Superdry’s biggest shareholder, with a 25 per cent holding.
